Goddess from the Earth

I'm lonely artist on the roof of my house
And I'm painting under the sun
Behind me is singing Lou Reed from the radio
I've never listened to better underground

I feel wine on my lips and my shirt hangs on the rack
Because the sun is shining on my back
Two pails full of water cooling both wine and my head
In this weather I've got to make my hair really wet

I was tired of the sun so I decided to go down
I put down my paintbrush, took a bottle of wine
Feeling a little drunk I left my house
And I set off to go downtown to feel fine

I saw a wonderful girl, she went slowly by the street
She definitely had to be some nymph from the Greece
But underneath a square, next to that street
She blent into crowd the thing I needed the least

I was trying to find her throughout all the city
But she disappeared like a ghost
I was looking for her for so many hours
Then I decided to return back home

So I changed my direction,
I walked back through the city which was
Illuminated by the lamps
Then I spotted her again, she was sitting on a bench
And smoking a cigarette

I lighted up my own and sat down next to her, asking:
„What are you doing here?“
„I'm looking where to go because I'm really tired,
Yesterday I arrived from the Greece.“

„You can go with me, my house is near from here,
In five minutes we could be there.“
We stood up and then went to my house
For the beautiful nymph I took care
